Minister outlines Tasmanian mining projects

Tasmania has many new and exciting mining industry projects, according to the State's Resources Minister Guy Barnett.

The Advocate is reporting that Mr Barnett spoke out after new figures showed spending on mineral exploration had dived in Tasmania.

Mr Barnett said the new projects included "the re-start of the Mt Lyell copper mine, the exciting new resource discoveries at the Renison tin mine, Venture Minerals commencing production at the Riley iron ore mine and the success that NQ Minerals are having reprocessing tailings at the Hellyer Mine".

He also said the Bluestone Mines Joint Venture was moving towards a major investment in the recovery of tin and copper tailings at the Renison tin mine via the commencement of the Rentails project.
